Training course on “Promotion of Energy Efficiency and Conservation” organized by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) was held on 31 May – 5 July 2017 in Tokyo, Japan, within the framework of the Knowledge Co-creation Program in the Energy Efficiency Center. I was presenting Azerbaijan State Agency for Alternative and Renewable Energy Sources. Besides me participants from Georgia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and other post-Soviet countries took part in this training course.

This program is designed to provide participants with information concerning the administrative and technical aspects of energy efficiency and conservation promotion in Japan, so that they will be able to make use of the practical knowledge obtained in the energy saving efforts in their respective countries.

During the visit, Japan’s energy conservation, energy saving policy, legislation, problems faced by the Japanese economy, current technologies, including “New Energy Saving Methods in Office Buildings”, “Eco-driving in Japan”, “Energy Management and Regulatory Framework of Support System”, “Energy Saving System and Green Price Procurement System”, “Transport Sector Energy Saving “,”Energy Saving in the Food Industry and Household”, “Zero Energy Consumption”, “Best Practices on Energy Saving Measures (Measures to Combat Global Warming at the Level of Local Authorities)”and other presentations were listened and discussions were held.

In addition, during the training course the following visits were discussed, to the energy-efficient technology building (Sony’s headquarters), the heat-sinking system (TEPCO), Ukisima Solar Power Station (Kavasaki), the Kyoto City environmental training and education center, Kobe Electric Power Station (Kobe) connected to “Reno” Joint Stock Company (Yasio), “Energy Efficiency in Power Plants” related to the development of energy saving through the “Efficient Energosphere” (Harumi) and “Cardboard Production Plant”, “Energy Management and Introduction to Energy Saving Technologies”, Oil Refinery Plant (Yokohama city) and interesting reports of companies, factories and plant specialists on energy conservation, production and transportation (complex logistics services) in buildings and factories and plants, as well as research and testing in separate laboratories were introduced to the training participants.

During the course, I have made presentation on the lectures during the course and the benefits of training in order to familiarize the participants with alternative and renewable energy sources, as well as their use perspectives and the work done in this field.
